Michael Betts • BA Dip.Arch RIBA

Michael formed Studio M12 initially to assist a number of clients that had approached him to design, develop and deliver their ideas. With them now providing years of repeat business and with a growing reputation, it has provided a firm basis on which to develop the practice in a controlled and sustainable manner.

Michael had many years of experience prior to forming Studio M12, specialising in the design and delivery of complex projects both in the UK and in China. Michael has worked with a number of design architects including Jeremy Dixon • Edward Jones, Anthony Peake, Alan Short and was formally a principal at Burrell Foley Fischer. These practices specialised in complex Arts and Education Projects, together with Housing and Regeneration.

More recently, Michael worked as part of PRP Architects Specialist Housing Team, renowned for their award winning Older Persons Housing, but also working with the young and vulnerable. Michael lead the design and delivery of the Pears Centre in Coventry, a Children's Home and School for the RNIB, designed specifically for young people with visual impairment together with severe learning difficulties.

Michael also worked closely with Roger Battersby, MD of PRP Architects, on the design and masterplanning of new retirement villages across China, where the ageing population is out growing the historical support system.

Michael has a keen interest in providing sustainable solutions, in all aspects of his projects, having studied for a post graduate certificate in the subject at the De Montfort University in Leicester.
